So you love perfume and cosmetics and would love to work in the perfume industry? You’ve been looking for jobs in fragrance or anything beauty related, but there’s a lot of competition for perfume jobs in the UK. With department stores quickly disappearing from the high street so are your dreams of working on the perfume counter in your local town centre store.
You’ve even thought about starting your own perfume business, working from home. Without a degree in chemistry and without the resources to buy the raw materials, fund the production costs, and a very small budget for marketing that’s a non-starter.
So how can you sell beauty products from home?
You could search out a Private Label Manufacturer who could produce your products for you. There are plenty of private label perfume manufacturers (UK options are limited though) that can and will produce perfume copies for you. You could even have your own signature fragrance, but you would need a hefty budget to get going. Even the smallest consignment would only be one fragrance with minimum orders of around 500 units. The start-up costs alone could be anywhere in the region of £7,500 to £20,000. That’s before marketing and other overheads. Again, this would be outside the reach of most people who are just looking for a fragrance job.
How to become a perfume distributor, UK
One of the easiest ways to start a perfume business working from home, is to buy into an existing franchise. There are a lot of network marketing companies in the UK that sell white label perfume. UK-based companies like Essens, Avon, FM and Prouve are relatively inexpensive to join. Avon is perhaps the most well-known of these companies, but there are many others that you may or may not have heard of. These companies are either free to register or charge a nominal registration fee. Some can charge as much as £200-£500 for a starter kit, but that pales into insignificance compared to the cost of starting your own perfume or beauty business from scratch. All of these companies allow you to start your own business working from home without investing massive amounts of money. Some of them like Essens are free to join.
Training to become a perfume distributor
If you have no experience in perfume sales jobs or cosmetics sales you may still worry how you could sell perfume from home. What if you can’t find people to sell to and end up paying for a starter kit that you get no sales from. You’re then £200 down right?
Not necessarily. Most, if not all, of the reputable companies, have training available or have experienced team leaders. They can teach you how to sell perfume from home using tried and tested methods that work. They’ll even teach you how to sell perfume online on social media platforms such as Facebook.
Where to find an “off-the-shelf” perfume business
If perfumes are your thing then take a look at these companies who specialise in designer perfume copies. These are not fake or counterfeit perfumes. These are white label perfumes that are owned by the private label manufacturers and produced according to exact specifications. They are then produced under license and branded with the company’s own label. Although these companies lead with their designer inspired perfumes (sometimes called copycat perfumes) they usually manufacture cosmetics and other product lines too. That means you have the choice of whether you want to sell perfume or to sell beauty products, or indeed any of the other products in their portfolio.
Several UK firms offer opportunities to work from home selling perfume and beauty products. Essens is one of them. Essens sell perfume dupes in the UK, or designer-inspired fragrances as they prefer to call them. They have been in the UK since 2019, and are well-established across Europe. They first opened in Brno in the Czech Republic in 2011.
Are the perfumes not just cheap copycat perfumes?
Essens perfumes are produced by one of the leading perfume manufacturers in the world, Seluz. Seluz partner with big named brands like Gucci, Dior and Chanel to name but a few. Essens perfume reviews and other Essens product reviews are mostly positive. Customers who try the perfumes generally buy the perfumes. You would be working with a company that already has an established reputation for quality products that people want. Selling just one Essens perfume at full price, after shipping, would result in a profit. The chance of losing money with Essens is negligible.
Obviously, there are no guarantees. As with all business, success requires hard work and determination. You have a sponsor to help you and you will have training and a great product to sell. So your risk of failure is minimised.
So which is the best Perfume MLM to join?
Essens and Avon are both registered and affiliated with the Direct Selling Association right here in the UK and to date are the only direct selling companies, selling perfume copies in the UK that are DSA members. They have to comply with very strict trading guidelines set down by the DSA which offer protection to perfume distributors and consumers alike. Of the two, Essens pays a higher rate of earnings. Avon earnings start at 10% going up to 32% when you sell an average of £1087 per month. Whereas, Essens earnings start at 33.5% from your first sale, with earnings potentially rising to 48% when you sell 15 bottles of standard range perfumes across a month. That’s around £400 in retail sales.

Essens is free to join and have starter kits that would enable you to start your own business, working from home selling perfume, cosmetics, health supplements and even eco-friendly cleaning products and travel. The most affordable Essens starter kit costs just £31 in the UK but for the first 48 hours after joining you can buy a kit, a full size perfume and with delivery included it would cost just £34. The basic starter kit is all you need to get started in your very own fragrance job. The Essens starter kit contains 60 fragrance samples from both the women’s perfume range and the men’s.
A Global Perfume Business
Essens Distributors can sell perfumes online to anyone living in any of the countries that Essens operates in, which includes most of mainland Europe, the UK, Ireland and as far a field as Australia, USA, Canada and South Korea. The prospective customer base, is therefore much wider than you would have access to with some other companies. You would eb able to sell to any contacts you have in other countries. For example, if you are registered with Essens UK or with Essens Ireland, you would be able to sell to family in Australia or friends in Canada. All you would need is the Essens fragrance list relating to the country your contact lives in. That can be supplied by your sponsor who would be there to help you through your first few months. So wherever you want to sell you can do it all from your one account with Essens UK.
